What is Paisiún?

THE WHY? In Ireland, we have on of the highest suicide rates in Europe among 15-24 year olds, with over 400 people ending their lives by suicide each year. How many of us suffer in silence? It's up to us as a community to create a more open and accepting society in which we don't feel ashamed to talk about our mental & emotional difficulties.

THE GOAL? We want to help society acknowledge that mental health difficulties are a part of the normal human experience

THE METHOD? By creating alternative ways of socialising that rely less on alcohol and more on community, creativity and honest conversation, we hope to change attitudes towards mental health difficulty and socialising in general. In this way we hope to raise money for local mental health support services and have a bit of craic in the process. Paisiún - A community approach to tackling our mental health problem

Our Past Events

Living a life of Passion & Gratitude

Paisiún presents "Living a life of Passion and Gratitude", in aid of Cosáin Community Wellness.

Join us for an insightful presentation with highly sought after life coach and author Jim Hickey, followed by a night of local food, art and music.

Be Your Own Valentine w/ Paisiún

Valentine's can be a lonely time, so Paisiún  is back with its second event to celebrate self-love, self-esteem and self-compassion. We want to create an alternative, healthier way of socialising in Galway. Our goal is to raise awareness and funding for mental health, while also providing an experience filled with passion, creativity, honesty, community, openness and most importantly fun.

Paisiún Christmas Gathering

Merry Christmas! Not long till the turkey feast now ;) Massive thanks to everyone who came to the Paisiún Christmas Gathering. The event was a huge success, and most importantly we raised over €1400 for Cosáin! We have been busy organising events for 2017 that will continue to raise awareness for mental health and help our community for the better.
